Indiana Turtle Care has captive turtles and tortoises that are available for adoption from time to time. Because we need to reserve space, time and expense for turtles in need of rehabilitation and turtles from shelters and rescue centers, we cannot keep certain species that are unwanted pets from private owners. Most of the turtles are aquatic species. Turtles that are rehabilitated or have special needs are not available for adoption.

Application Information

* Applicants must either be 18 years of age or live with an adult who is willing to help with the care and attention of the animal.

* You must be able to provide a proper habitat and diet for the turtle/tortoise you may adopt.

* Photographs of the set-up are required before the adoption is completed.

* Submission of an application is allowed if there is no turtle/tortoise available for you at the time.

* All questions must be answered honestly.

* Outdoor ponds and pens must be secured.

* While we do not promote shipping of adopted animals, we will consider it. If a turtle/tortoise is shipped, the adopter is responsible for the cost.
