Caring for your pet turtle or tortoise

Having a turtle for a pet can be an exciting and learning experience.  Many think they are 'the easy care pets', which they are not.  Each species has specific needs to have a healthy and happy life.  The most important thing when considering having
one as a pet is to do research to make sure you are able to properly give your turtle the care it deserves.
Know what habitat they require, as well as lighting, diet and availability of a reputable exotic animal veterinarian to care for your pet if it should require medical attention.

This page is giving the basic care.  Please visit the page for your specific turtle/tortoise to learn what you need
to provide proper care.
